A Solo show at Thomas and Paul Gallery, Little Venice. I visited the local area taking photographs

and developing themes as a starting point so the paintings have resonance to 'sense of place'.

Stitch and embroidered textiles and paper collage are embedded into the paintings which create a tactile quality.

Maria Kuipers is an artist of emotional power.

Her works are intuitively conceived in the tension

between limitation and inner strength, uncovering layers of thought, imagery and symbol

which impact our inner selves.

Using a process of layering, scraping back, reflecting and re-instating,

she creates emotional landscapes of spiritual significance.
